Project ideas for VB

hey all!

We have just received our VB project except this time our lecturer has left it wide open. no guidelines no requirements as such except "The project must provide a business solution" while this in itself is a good thing, we as a group are finding it hard to come up with ideas. the main idea being a sort of instant golden pages type application. So i ask the good people of boards for help. any help/ideas would be much appreciated lads.

how about some thing like

1 a pub stock control sys (inc sales end and auto ordering)
2 a teaching tool aid(logic gate simulator)
3 a sys for optitions (eg payments and stock control and appointments)
4 a filofax inc messaging service for inter office instant comunication

etc etc etc

there rakes of ideas out there just look at any business and then see what sort of system they mite need

Get creative.....

Try to think of something that will be submitted several times over. Lectrurers like seeing something completely different.

You could take a networking project...something client-server based. I'm sure the poor lectrurer will be seeing about 50bv programs connectiong to a data base .....

Something that was suggested recently as a project idea was a version control project. Have a look into what Visual Source Safe does - it basically acts as a library system for file so that only one version of a file exists. Only one person ca edit and commit changes t that file at any given time.....Thaty'd be a good project and would lead to an interesting demonstration.

How about a a timer - list of options - people click when they start one task and click when finished - you could also have a list of customers so you can bill them for time. (eg: if Bloggs & Co. ring you - click Research then click Bloggs , go for a coffee break and then click Research or Bloggs to stop allocation time)

the filofax thing would take more than one line Capt'n Midnight if u addsed in extra optrions
u could also try to do something with both networking and database that prob im press the lect..
maybe a sick note management system where you have a database and everytime a student is sick enter the sick note that was handed in then if a lecturer wants to find out if a student was sick then thery simply log in and query the students name and all their sick certs should be displayed...
i did the pub stock control sys 2 years ago and it actually lot harder than it first appears.. but course loads research inn the field was put in...
