I wouldn't really classify it as ranting. IMO he's providing a background that gives lie to the widely held beleif in the Western world that "they hate our freedom" and "the Middle East's only democracy" as well as other such non-sense.
Suppose he is ranting...I wouldn't say that he's inaccurate.

In fairness, it is a fairly accurate article. Very unbalanced though.
