MSG2 -Substance problem

Ive recently bought a copy of metal gear 2 substance ( the expansion from sons of liberty) on the pc. When im playing some of the cut scenes are v. dark as if i have turned down the brightness, while sometimes others are grand. Also, i cannot see any faces when i use the codec! Any suggestions ? I had the invisible codec faces problem on my setup too, after much googling I found the solution is to lower the 'model quality' slider in the GFX preferences by one notch.
