hello

there was this song that i heard on Phantom a few times and i cant remember who sings it.

its a funny little song with a guy and his guitar singing about his life, from when he was a child to being a very old man.
he never really had many friends and there was something about a goldfish too i think.
his dog was his only friend.
at the end of the song he says
'Every halloween they hung a million rubber skeletons...'

does anyone out there know what song im talking about? it is driving me crazy!
