Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yojimbo. very cool and well done film - I especially liked Toshiro Mifune as The Man With No Name, he is just as cool as Clint Eastwood. It did feel like a western and it really works very well, the music is top notch too. Recommended.

Primer - a right royal headfuck of a movie. Anyone that disliked Donnie Darko or any other film that doesn't have giant arrows helping guide the viewer every step of the way would be better off avoiding this.

I saw House of Wax on Wednesday night. Surprisingly, it was very enjoyable. The deaths were great and the ending was a nice throwback to the spectacular endings of some old horror films. Plus Elisha Cuthbert is hotness. ;)

I can't wait to see Sin City either. I still have to see Star Wars Episode III as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 974 ✭✭✭MooShop

ya cant wait for sin city, war of the worlds should be good as well.

i agree with YeatsCounty about house of wax, very enjoyable, elisha cuthbert so fine, paris hilton skank. good detail in the killings, you wouldnt want to be squirmish ;)

Bought the Special Edition of it there in HMV in the 3 for €30 a couple of months back... blooming fantastic!! :D Jennifer Connelly's acting is truly atrocious in it though.. especially the scenes at the beginning with her parents!

Jareth: You remind me of the babe.
    Goblin: What babe?
Jareth: The babe with the power.
    Different Goblin: What power?
    Jareth: The power of voodoo.
    Goblin: Who do?
    Jareth: You do.
    Goblin: Do what?
Jareth: Remind me of the babe.

I watched Guess Who? last night and has to be one of the worst movies I have seen in a long time.
It had a really boring storyline and the jokes aren't even funny.

A mixed bag of....well....crap. No, not really. It had some good moments, could have been something much greater....was wayyy to short for one thing! not even 80 minutes

Sin City - Very Good. I really liked the style of it.
La Haine - A great film.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 122 ✭✭Half-Bicycle

Sin City - big disappointment, lots of visual flourish and arresting imagery but **** one-dimensional characters and samey storylines. Damn.

League of Gentlemen's Apocalypse - does exactly what it says on the tin, manic silliness but leaves you with a smile on your face.

Agreed! The last half hour almost made up for the entire first 45 minutes! Not bad... i've seen a lot worse!

Rented out 'Dead Birds' last night also... not a bad little horror! Bit of a slow builder but quite gory in parts.

Dodgeball. Which I didn't like when I saw it in the cinema. But the Ben Stiller character is worth watching it for! what a wagon!

    Recently umm:

Strings - Interesting puppet fantasy world. Good premise in that it ties in the art of puppetry into the movie but the story itself is a bit lacking.

Ong-Bak - Surprisingly enjoyable martial arts flick, even if I knew I could do all those stunts. If I wanted to. Which I don't.

Sin City - Style over substance that actually works. A tad over-rated but definetely worth a view.

Mysterious Skin - Downbeat tale that I found quite capitaviting and disturbing. Not really a date movie...

Dead Man's Shoes - Still, IMHO, the most underrated movie of 2004. Everyone should see this and agree that Paddy Considine deserved multiple awards and plaudits for his astonishing performance here. Features one of the best opening lines in a movie too: God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven. I can't live with that.

Seed of Chucky - Well I'd seen the other four so I had to catch this. Mildly entertaining and credit to Jennifer Tilly for not taking herself too seriously. I enjoyed the angle they took with the kid too. But probably still only for fans of the series.

    Trauma

Definetly not Argento's best, but I rather enjoyed it.
