Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Chicago. We've had the dvd for ages but I kept forgetting to watch it. Really excellent, Catherine Zeta Jones worked hard for her oscar!! Renee Zellweger and Richard Gere also top class I thought. Couldn't be bad in my opinion with that type of soundtrack

Castaway, havent watched it in a good while, a great film.

Alien on C4. Not in widescreen as promised (just 16:9) nor the directors cut so called. Still good as a creepy flick but one thing struck me? Who the hel designed that ship? I would'nt have the destruct module 4 mins runing time from the shuttle craft!

    Mike.

The Hitcher......seemed a bit derivative of the Driver and dated very badly.

Dark Water....another very predictable dull japanese horror film. Watched this as i heard a film reviewer saw the american remake was far inferior to this japonese orginal. The Jennifer Connolly version must be pretty poor if this is better than it.

Have not seen this in years, one of my favorite movies, Richard Dreyfuss was brilliant in this.

    Over the w/e:
I "heart" Huckabees - Quirky, fun, Wahlberg is excellent.
The Machinist - Excellent acting, directing, little weak on the story. Bale is unreal in this.
The Assasination of Richard Nixon - Worth it for Penn's super performance but I found it a little slow.

The Skeleton Key....very disappointed. Personally I thought it should be made for tv. Long, drawn out, alot of fumbling about and not even a decent climax....just like bad sex.

its a new 2 disc dvd version of the film.its ten years since its release hence the X. apparently it has some additional crap. I was just wondering if it was worth spending the money on the new version.

    Insomnia

Wow! This absolutely owned the remake! Worth seeing fro Stellan Skarsgard's preformance alone. Altogether a very gritty film, and it had a far superior ending to the hokey Al Pachino version.

They didn't. The first disk has the movie as you know it with a bunch of commentaries. Then there's a second disk with the 'original cut' of the movie, with the original 'Do The Right Thing' ending where Dante suddenly gets killed. And a third disk with documentaries, interviews and junk like that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,982 ✭✭✭ObeyGiant

Oh - and last night, I watched The Conversation. I love Walter Murch's sound design in the 70s.
