    Platoon.
I'm attempting to build a collection fo Kurasawa's films, and there's never been a better time.

A lot of people seem to do doing so. My dads got most of them so I just borrow them of him. Though not one of my friends know who Kurosawa is and not one of them will watch any of his films.:dunno:

Still good crack, not too dated. Seventeen frickin' years old??

Went to see Touching the Void last night. Rather good documentary type film recounting the tale of a mountain climb which goes wrong.
You will cringe when disaster strikes!
The camerawork is excellent in conveying the sheer immensity of the mountains and the "crevass scene" is particularly good.

    I last watched in order:

    Ichi The Killer anime
    Elf
    Bruce Almighty
    Hero

Hero was quite good, despite not being a fan of Jet Li.
Great story, even if the Special Effects and ultra-silly sword fighting left a bad taste in my mouth...
I think it would have a much better film if it wasn't for all those Crouching Tiger-isms...

Animated Ichi The Killer was very good altogether.
But Elf and Bruce Almighty were instantly forgettable.

So far today in this order:

    Returner
    Russian Ark
    Nid de Guepes

Returner was a pretty decent Japanese action flick
Russian Ark was a little boring
and Nid de Guepes was a nearly brilliant French action/thriller - well worth looking out for.

    Judge Dredd...

In many parts worse than I remember, but in some, better. I remember thinking that the films downright crapness being due to Rob Schnieder. The film seemed to be nothing but a Buddy comedy with Dredd + Schnider, but some of the dreadfull lines spouted by Stalone were a serious downfall of the film also. Especially seeing as it had the most idiotic 'catchphase' ever seen in an action movie: "I knew you'd say that!" FFS!?

IMHO, Dredd in the comic books would've just shot Schnieder.

And I just watched Star Trek II - The Wrath Of Khan today.
    Now, that's a class film.
Definetly one of the best Trek movies.

    Shinjuka Triad Society

Actually it was Saturday night I watched this. A little bit weird, not helped by watching it at 3am and being half asleep.
Violent as you would expect from Miike, and quite graphic too. Not bad, not great. I still have to watch Rainy Dog which is the second part of the trilogy, then at some stage I'll get around to watching Ley L ines. Hopefully they're not full of rent boys too. :dunno:

pfft, the ABC warrior is all that film had going for it.
hopefully the 2 stalone-less Dredd films are still in production...

freddy vs jason - surprisingly enjoyable... i'd almost go as far as recommending it!

    just watched windtalkers

    such a bad film

you know how.. there's bad.. and that's low
    there's ****.. and that's worse
there's all kinds of different words for higher levels of badness

then there is a level of ****eness so immense.. that it reaches back round the circle to 'bad'.. as the only word available to describe it

    mind numbingly bad

sh1te.....I saw it years ago, and loved it. I was waiting for his scene, but there was an old guy playing the part where I was expecting Brad Dourif.
    So I turned it over :( .
I suppose I'll have to buy it now. :)

Edit: Had a look there, 6 eurons delivered!

I've watched The Warrior and The Hidden Fortress

I much prefered The Warrior to Hero, the fighting was far more realistic than all the silly crouching tiger style stuff. And it had the guy from Iron Monkey in it, who is in fairness, a better actor than Jet Li.

The Hidden Fortress was just utter class.
I really enjoyed it, and I was gripped right up to the end.

Finally caught "In America" last nite - really enjoyed it, despite the blanket advertising that had me so riled the first time it was released. The acting is pretty much all spot on, and it's just a nice, warming tale. Awww bless.

    I've just watched Adaptation.

I just don't know what to say.
It's a film that seriously irritated me, but I very much enjoyed it.

hehe, kinda how I feel about amelie
just watched it now.. beautiful film, looks amazing and it's quirky but.. amelie... didn't like her one bit

i saw no reason to feel any compassion for her, she's just a **** up
she has sfa redeeming qualities other than her 'niceness' which is really only to keep herself amused. didn't buy the love story between herself and the deranged porno store clerk either.

I enjoyed the film though, it was interesting enough to keep me watching it even if I didn't feel any empathy towards the characters

Over the week it has been:

    S.W.A.T.
    Friday
    Next Friday
    Friday After Next :D
Any Given Sunday - Imo one of the best sports films.
Not Another Teen Movie - Crap.

Started watching Rainy Dog last night, but fell asleep. That's not a criticism of the film I was just really tired.
