Broadband what do i need

your talking to a newbie here so please keep your replies as simple as possible (pictures of examples would make things easier to i suspect) here's the problem: i'm getting broadband soon (not really a problem). and i want the 2 pc's in the house to be able to conect to it at once, had it set-up for my dial-up conection…

here's the problem:

i'm getting broadband soon (not really a problem).
and i want the 2 pc's in the house to be able to conect to it at once, had it set-up for my dial-up conection (trough a LAN i have set-up) but i can't get it to work anymore!!!

now, i had a good look trough other post and they go on about routers and other stuff wich is all jargon to me.

so, could some one please explain to me in great detail and as easy as posible how i conect 2 pc's to broadband at once.

what about security measures what can be done there?

1pc has xp the other win 2000

the LAN is some 50 euro set-up from pc world, pc line or something?

hopefully this tread will also help other people.
