I`m looking for a ready made PHP package that will be able to:

Log Faults / Ticker type thing

Also hopefully it expandable for the future.

ANy good free packages out there

Not 100% sure if it is what you are looking for, but I have found
PHPprojekt useful for groupware, project mgt etc.

It has a lot of modules, some of which may be of use to you.

Do you mean a kind of support desk?
PHPProjekt is a nice starting point. We were running it on an intranet for a while and found it easy to install and use

Yeah something like that, hopefuly it will lead onto groupware type stuff.

I`m working as the only IT lad in a 50 user network. Current form of fault reporting is in a word sheet. Looking for something more extensive. Have a linux server here waiting for usage

The thing I found with PHPprojekt is that it probably does a bit too much for most users.

Check out the multitude of help desk scripts listed on Hotscripts.com for a good starting point.

I would advise against trying to do too much initially.
If you try and foist a behemoth like PHPprojekt on them, they may not be too accepting. It's a bit of a jump from a word doc to that.

A nice simple ticketing script would be best to start with IMHO.

You could try using bugzilla. Might be a bit overkill but it's quite complete.

It'd be worth your while actually buying something though IMO.

http://perldesk.com - nice and simple IMHO and used by a lot of IT/Hosting companies, includes email piping
