Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Interference from companies testing FWB

    Hi!

Has anyone experienced problems caused by the various FWB companies testing kit, especially in the Dublin area? I am interested to know if this has happened, how long the problem lasted, how it manifested itself and which bands were affected.

The problem is that if they were testing in the 2.4Ghz band it could be causing interference but:
    1) Non-one will do anything because its an unlicensed band
    2) Hard to prove it is them and not a baby monitor / dect phone or even a badly sealed microwave ...

If you are getting inteference in some other band and you own the rights to that spectrum then bring your case to comreg ... if you dont have rights to that spectrum there is nothing that can be done

Licenced FWB operates in the 3.5Ghz band so if you dont have a licence you should not have noticed anything should you ?

2.4GHz is unlicensed subject to radiating up to 100Mw EIRP.

eg: If your card outputs 60mW and the antenna has a dain of 2.2dB (3 inch stub antenna) you will radiate 99.5mW - you can only use bigger antennas if you use less power / have huge losses in cable/surge arrestrer before the antena..

For external use of 5.8GHz (even though license exempt) you MUST register with comreg - so you could ask them who is in your area...

You must register the Base station, including a map of the intended service area and of proposed signal propogation, in return for which you are allowed 2w EIRP not 100Mw

SO one would think. Comreg will not tell you this information and will not tell you why they will not tell you. Kafka himself hasn't a patch on them.
