    2 things:

    - I have heard of people getting slapped with customs duty recently, even when its second hand or a gift. Theres a private company handling packages from america now, not An Post. So you need to check this out.

    - You need to trust that the screen is in perfect nick... but thats the chance you take.

The specs sound fine, but you will need to do further digging if you want to know if it will be any good for games. ( you need to find out the pixel refresh time, afaik if its at or under 20ms its ok )

Yea, just as Gerry said, apart from customs, you'd really wanna find out the pixel refresh rate - that makes or breaks a flatscreen imho <edit> - oooo - and what the guarantee on dead pixels?</edit>

refresh i dont really care about as i am not really a gamer,

As for GLS ,have dealt with then before , but if its marked as a gift worth $30 they they cant do squat , i have dont this loads of times recently on other imports ,

as for dead pixels i suppose its the chance i take , but for 285 squid it might be worth the risk,

if everything worked out do you think price wise its a good investment?

    Cheers

You might if you intend to watch dvd's etc but otherwise, nah, it won't matter
Look at tom's hardware guide for good info on the olde bauld LCD's
