    Looking to find a PHP Hot Or Not / Picture Rating Script.

    After doing a few google searches all the ones I found were commercial and I'm too cheap/poor to buy a script for an idea thats not going to make me any money.

    Anyone know of a good free script ?

    Hot or Not scripts are really basic yellum. Put the mathematical logic down on pixels for me and I'll write one for you.

    I also asked for recommendations, not for lessons on how to search for stuff online. I'm trying the human search results way now i.e. asking on a webmaster forum.

    I went into hotscripts but I found commerical stuff again and I did not want to go through a few 100 pages of crap. I like Human Filters. :D

    Adam's right, there's not much to writing your own script, the logic behind it isn't difficult.

    There are however a couple of things you may want to think about before going off and starting coding (or passing the coding over to someone else).

    1) The order the photos are displayed, if you have a small collection of pics then random order is best. Users will be prepared to see a few repeats while rating the photos. If you have a large selection however then view most recent pics should be shown first otherwise they will become annoyed with the same faces showing most of the time.

    2) How often can you vote?? Should voters be limited on the number of times they can rate a pic (once a day/week/month). It doesnt take much for someone to keep voting themselves a 10 and everyone else a 0 to scew your rankings. If you are going to restrict voting, how will it be restricted, authenticated (logged-in) members, IP address?

    3) If your site is going to consist of nothing other than hot or not pics, forget it. It's been done to death, your repeat visitors will be very low unless you're permitting fairly adult content.

    4) Manage your images, restrict the size both in kb and pixels. Nothing worse than waiting 7 minutes for a crap image to load, and you can guarantee the 1st time digital camera owner is going to try and submit that 1.6MB poster proportion image for voting.

    5) Dont expect it to make a penny. If its an add-on to an exisitng site it may increase your page impressions but thats about it.

    My final hint would be to make sure all photos are pre-screened before you make them public, you would be astounded at what some muppets try and put up for rating. Copyright images, complete porn, expect it all, it wouldn't be unusual to get an image with a title along the lines of "Me 5 months pregnant at 13".
