    What I've read :

    - Riftwar Saga by Raymond E Feist.

    - His Dark Materials Trilogy by Philip Pullman

    - Lord of the Rings by Tolken

    - Numerous Discworld novels, namely ones containing Death or Witches.

    - Good Omens Terry Pratchett / Neil Gaimen.

All excellent books, what do people suggest I read next?

    Thanks

It can't be praised enough so:

A Song of Ice and Fire, by George R.R. Martin. 3 of the 6 books in this series released so far.

Make it your primary action item.

I like classic short stories myself - amazing how many of them you see as films / episodes later on.. anthologies

Most stuff by Author C Clark is worth a read
    Early Asimov esp foundations
ya might as well read the hobbit too.
Iaan M Banks - some people love this stuff, but it can be a tad dark.
