Vodafone Email settings

My handset is the Nokia 7650
My operator is Vodafone and I'm a prepay customer, and I'd like to be able to send emails. I tried using the settings in the above sticky, but they dont seem to work. Would anyone care to take me through it more slowly.

[EDIT] Whoops, just saw that email is only available for billed customers. Sorry.

Also for someone else who has a Siemens MC60 with Meteor and will eventually move to Vodafone, would they still be able to use WAP, MMS etc, despite the fact that Vodafone Live dont support that phone at the mo?

What settings would one use in that instance.

you should be able to connect to dial-up, but you will only get a slow connection, paying per second - so might be expensive...

use the Voda HSCSD settings but swap out these settings:
    Data Bearer: GSM Data
    Username: vodafone
    Password: vodafone
    Data Call: ISDN v.110
    Data speed: 9600

any idea how to get the HSCSD working on a P900 DubWireless?

First, make sure that you are provisioned for HSCSD with Vodafone; if Customer Care on 1907 can't help you, try Data Support on 1850287000.

This is the way it is set up on the P800, so I hope that it works on the P900 also. In internet accounts in the control panel, set up a new account:
Account name: Internet HSCSD (or whatever you want)
    Connection type: Dial-up
    User name: vodafone
    Password: vodafone
    Phone number: 0876202222
    Get IP address automatically: Ticked
    Get DNS address automatically: Ticked
Use log in script: Not ticked
    Plain text authentication: Ticked
    Use proxy server: Not ticked
    Connection type: ISDN
    Enable high speed: Ticked
    Requested speed: 28.8 kbps
    Enable secure access: Not ticked
    Enable PPP extensions: Not ticked
    Use call back: Not ticked
You can then use this account for surfing and email.

I'd be inclined to go straight to Data Support, especially if you are a prepay customer.

You can use WAP and MMS via GPRS on a non Live handset, I have a Nokia 6100 from the UK that isn't supported by Live. If you try and access the Live pages is says something like "you have attempted to access the Vodafone live! portal, to access this site you must have a live! device, please contact your local Vodafone agent for more information on Vodafone Live!... " then it gives you a link to the "normal" WAP content which works perfectly well.

yeah - the P900 internet configs like the P800 - all the advanced defaults worked out ok just needed to change the speed tab's settings (ISDN, HighSpeed, 28.8k)

hoped they might have upgraded their HSCSD capability when rumours of the P900 came out first, as their PC cards support faster, but it stayed at 28.8k :(

might also want to set a dial-up idle time out, it's located in the internet account's "other" tab

Voda not offering the P800 or P900 (yet) may mean support woudn't be in a position to help - anyhow those configs should do the trick (so long as HSCSD is enabled on the account as DaveK outlined)

Yeah I meant in order to enable HSCSD on a prepay account-unless things have changed since this thread. :)

ah - yeah - got HSCSD set-up on one RTG SIM here after that was posted (previously being told by data support it wasn't available on RTG) :D - although this was posted later on which made out it wasn't supposed to happen - so any RTG customers who had it set seemed to be lucky

but yeah - always worth a shot - if it happened once it can happen twice (or three times...) :)

As the above suggests, the handset has passed testing but has not been released in stores.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,027 ✭✭✭flywheel

good news it's on the way :D

is that final testing ready for release - any ETA?

and do you know how 'branded' it is? (crossing fingers that's it's none or only a little)

if they stock it in time they'll have a device to pitch against the likes of the P800 / XDA II offered by O2

To be honest I am not sure, I am guessing it would be on a par with what happened in the UK. So if it was branded and "optimised" in the UK, it would be here too.

    erm - it is (tri-band)

I shall get that corrected then :)

HSCSD is a service that is not offered to Prepaid customers. If you pull that off, fair played to you. Data Support must not have realised it was a RTG number, I better tell em for the future :p
