[ Official EA/Dice ] Punkbuster™ support in next patch

    EA/Dice have confirmed Punkbuster™ support in next Battlefield 1942 patch [v1.6] in accordance with the number one request from the community. They now obviously see that there s a growing number of cheaters in the BF community and that the "pure" server idea does not work. Also i doubt the v1.6 patch will be too far away, couple of weeks maybe :)
    In response to the #1 request from the community, DICE & EA are proud to announce the inclusion of anti-cheat measures in the next patch for Battlefield 1942. The Battlefield team is committed to providing an exploit-free gaming environment for members of our community. Our goal is to have measures in place which address both current and future cheats. As such, after researching existing anti-cheat programs, we've determined that Punkbuster™ suits our purposes perfectly. We'll keep everyone updated as to our progress. For now, we have successfully integrated Punkbuster into the upcoming 1.6 patch and we're in the process of testing it.

    So what exactly does Punkbuster do ? Is it a server side monitor that checks for clilent exploits or just an IP blocker or what?

    Oh great another patch in a couple of weeks, which means all other mods need updating as well.

    Another 500 plus mod from desert combat EOD, glactic conquest ETC ETC ETC

    Im getting very bored with this game at the mo

    might just sell it on that way wont have to DL anything ever again for it

    Electronic Arts Inc. has contracted with Even Balance, Inc. to integrate PunkBuster™ Anti-Cheat software into the game Battlefield 1942™ by Digital Illusions. We will soon be opening a section on our website to support PunkBuster™ for Battlefield 1942™. Honest players and admins who would like to report actual known working cheats and hacks for the game are encouraged to email the details to research@evenbalance.com.

    Punkbuster is both a client and server side software which stop known hacks and cheats. If required on a server only people with the PunkBuster™client wil be able to play/connect there. Its just a good way of getting rid of cheats. It is constantly updated as new cheats come out. If you know of any cheats Punkbuster ask that you email them to: research@evenbalance.com.
