wireless card as an access point?

    just wondering is it possible to get a wireless card for an pc running windows and then cofigure ir to be an access point! Any drivers or tools out there to do the trick?

    think there is definatley something out there for linux but windows is the platform im looking at
    (want to configure a firewall on the pc so that all devices connected to the wireless access point are allready firewall protected:D )

    i know what most of ye are going to say
    get an external wireless access point like this

    Just get some NAT software like winroute or if your not fussed with ip addys just use window's ICS. Your only problem then is a somewhat limited ranged of the wifi card, compared to a ext. AP which would have anntenae. - Either use a pigtail adaptor to link your wifi card to an antenae (providing it has an external output) or use some reflectors to direct the radio to a specific area for greater signal strength.

    As far as I know there is a regisrty setting/hack to get orinico or buffalo cards to work in AP mode under windows. Id suggest going to IrishWAN.org's boards and asking or googling alot.
