Gamecube down and out ?

Is the gamecube on the downturn or something? - it seems to be gradually disappearing from shops and catalogues. The shelves for the GC are getting smaller and smaller. Not to mention the fact they halted gamecube production and rumours of develpers pulling out gamecube support. kinda discourages you from buying one

Anyway... back on topic the Gamecube may not be matching its competitors but that's not the biggest issue. The console as a whole seems to be securing a hold on its part of the market and seems sustainable. No doubt it'll live on in the shadow of the PS2 and the Xbox but so what? It's still got the best games out there and so long as it has enough of a consumer base to warrant continuing production it has no need to worry. With the current upturn in Nintendos fortune it looks like the Gamecube is set to be around for a long time, but will probably never hit sony's heights.
