1.6 is out and available from http://www.bf1982.com/ and is a mere 310 Megs in size :)

I'd love to tell you all more but the installer keeps crashing at 38%

    Regards,

    Ben

Little too much oversteer for my taste, though not as bad as the cobra. Everything is in primary colours and the buildings are just a little too small - just like in all the 80's action shows.

Only things missing are BA's van and really bad haircuts :-)

How come all the mods that come out for this game are so massive? Desert Combat was 500mb and this one is 300mb. Whats the crak here?

Well what size do you expect them to be? You cant fit hi-res models, skins and especially maps on a 1.44 Floppy. The typical map size is usually about 50megs.

Besides I've got a 600k pipe here and a 2 gig at work so I dont really care :)

Because games are getting bigger (most games install at 2gigs these days). You're fitting in high res textures, high-poly models, large maps - it all adds up I'm afraid.
And I remember nearly ****ting it because a ra2 mod came in at 10megs :D

PS - Interstate rocks. It's a really really fun game to play, it's a shame there's so few servers that play it :( Only half decent server I found was a Norwegian one :D

yeah i found that to the be the problem with some of the mods. Thats it kind of hard to find a server playing it.

Meant to say, I stuck a server up for it. I'm sure u can all figure out how to find them now.

Thought i'd make one of my large mirror posts. 310mb is still way too large for me to download at the moment. Im only 49% through my Linux ISO ... and going along at a cool 4kb/s. You have to just love 56k dial up. Anyways, here are some mirrors!

    Winters...

    What ISO are u downloading...

I'll burn it on CD and sent it to you, no probs.

BTW ever thought of IrishWAN... Free access to most Linux ISO's at way way over current broadband speeds from the connections of the current broadband providers..

I'm downloading Knoppix at the moment, 55% through. Dont wory about sending the ISO out. I'll have this one done in 20 hours.

Tempted to go WAN. Never really looked into it enough. Good for pings though?
