The Minister for Communications, Dermot Ahern, has announced a breakthrough in broadband pricing for 40 towns across the country. It will mean prices will be eight times lower than what is currently available on the market. It will also link regional Ireland to Dublin at high speed as well as low cost. Minister Ahern says this will set off competition between companies in cutting the cost of broadband, and will hopefully push broadband into more regional areas.

Does anyone know what the 40 towns are?

There's a couple of threads discussing this in IrelandOffline, I posted the press release there. This isn't last mile stuff though.
