My mate and I have noticed loads of holodeck episodes where the holodeck "comes to life" as he says and takes over the ship and loads of other episodes with just general holodeck b**sh*t. Now I am a fan of all the star trek series but he isn't really. Can any of you REAL star trek heads tell me how many holodeck episodes there were in each series because every time he comes over and I switch on trek it's another holodeck episode!! Trying to find out how many there are so I can either tell him there's too many or not.

I think it's safe to say there are an unnatural amount of episodes about the holodeck.

But imo they are some of the best episodes so keep 'em coming I say...

Well I don't think they're the best but I've nothing against them. Just wondering how many there are.

Many were two part episodes, this may account for the number.
(For example the one where Moriatry discovered the "arch")

Do you mean episodes in which the whole show is based around the holodeck more or less?

There was quite a few of them alright. Don't think there was an episode where the safety protocols worked :p

"Holodeck malfunction, shutting down safety protocols and disabling exit and end program functions. Program itself will remain functioning perfectly without a glitch though".

There were a few non-malfunctioning episodes regarding the crew's over-zealous use of it as well (the barcley holo-addiction one, and laxanna-troi/worf's son - although the holodeck malfunctioned yet again towards the end there. but at least they weren't trapped for once).

then theres the james bond style ones in DS9 and the 'take me out to the holosuite' episode which i think is in season 7 of DS9.

also theres the victorian novel ones, the leonardo da vinci ones and the fair haven  ones in VGR

TNG = the advengers of the unstable holodeck

any time the holodeck was shown in tng you just KNEW it was going to **** up

They also seem to have no concept of holodeck size. The thing's only a few square feet in size yet several characters can walk in and end up miles away from each other.

And that episode with Professor Moriarty. "Computer solve an age-old problem and give soul to a holodeck character" "Done".

    ah cool.

So that's why they're able to eat the food.

I wonder could you play a sick joke and have the food turn back to energy after the leave the holodeck? Invite everyone to a big dinner and then when they walk out - "HaHa, you're hungry again!!".

I guess mess of replicated objects get cleared up using the recycling technology described in Voyager (year of hell). What about semen stains from Quark's personal holosuites? What if a character pops into the toilets while they're on the holodeck? (since there seems to be none anywhere else on the ship :p).

I can just picture Wesley Crusher exiting the holodeck to bump into his secret crush, Counsellor Troi. Just then Troi wretches in disgust, Wesley turns around to see what's bothered her - a steaming turd left right in the middle of the holodeck floor.

I cringe at all the Voyager holo eps. Particulary any of the Irish pub ones.

URGGHHGHG!!!! I hate those episodes with a passion!!! Although every episode of Voyager is a bloody holodeck episode. Hardly any good episodes of Voyager. Voyager sucks pretty much.

also there were those WW2 hirojen episodes of voyager, i actually thought they were pretty good for holodeck episodes.

the TNG moriarty episodes annoy the crapola outta me, as did the detective picard ones too.

In the holodeck, you could go anywhere, do anything - but they always go for boring Victorian or quaint ol' pub settings. Realistically, there should be a much higher incidence of people getting addicted to holodeck porn - there was a suggestion of this in the episode where Geordie falls in love with a simulation of an engineer who then comes to visit the ship but it was all very innocent and rose-coloured. Or the one where the psycho Betazoid guy on Voyager strangled Neelix but still, why does it have to be a psychopath who does violent stuff on the holodeck - why not show somebody like Troy or Kes going crazy with an AK047!

Didnt the Dixon Hill characters go ape in the next generation holodeck episodes.

then there was the moriarty ones where he took over the ship. they were pretty dumb.

oh and that fair haven one was complete and utter tripe. but then you have to remember the program itself wasnt meant to be factual it was ment to be a little silly.
