From Joni Mitchell's recent (2001?) album 'Both Sides Now' ...

    1. "Both Sides Now" (written when she was about 18 but really only ripened now and exactly right for a woman Joni's age looking back on life ... apparently it's played in the film 'love actually ... not sure that's a good thing ... but someone on the film has taste!!).

    and ...

    2. "A Case of You" (about her tempestuous relationship with Leonard Cohen - I think)

Mitchell's voice is 'smoky-rich' and extraordinarily evocative and is backed by wonderful understated orchestration. This is a masterclass in how to communicate deep emotion without lurching into schmaltzy in-your-face sentimentality. Buy this album for these two songs ... you will NOT be disappointed!

Metallica's Orion or Blackened - amazing stuff. I was chuffed to bits that they played Blackened at their RDS gig, and it was every bit as good as I hoped it would be.

    Fire!
