As far as I'm aware it's illegal to keep ANY wild animal as a pet so a chimpanzee is defo a no no.... you can however adopt a chimp and pay x amount a month for their upkeep, you would get a newsletter thingy to keep you updated about how your chimp was getting on etc, but as for having one in your home.... forget about it, it ain't gonna happen!!!!

As littleninja said, financially adopting a chimp is the best bet.
Even if it were realistic, legally you would need a wild animals licence and possibly even a dangerous animal licence.

Aside from that, to my mind it would be highly irresponsible. They are a VERY complex, specialised animal that it takes years of study before you are qualified to care for. Having a chimp as a pet is like saying I want to keep a pet 2 year old toddler lol!

A pet 2 year old toddler that will become a pet 2 year old toddler that's adolescent and violent. Chimps aren't easy to take care of, no matter what TV says (and last time I checked even the TV was saying they're hard to take care of).

Sure even Michael Jackson who has millions and millions of dollars for supplies and pet specialists and psychologists had to give up Bubbles because he became a certain age and became unruly, horny and hard to deal with. They need to be around other chimps.

I'm pretty sure it's illegal, but personally I think it's cruel (they're wild animals! They're not meant to be kept as pets)

    I want, I want, I want.
Think of the animals wellbeing, not just your own desires. Just because you really want one doesn't mean you should get one.
As another poster said, chimps need other chimps.
Even if you could legally get one, you really shouldn't as it would not be fair on the chimp.
I would see keeping one in your house as cruelty, just like zoo's tbh.
