Ok I can enable/disable it in bios, and when I plug it in the computer recognizes that it's new hardware and installs the files needed but when I put a disk in and click on the floppy icon it just pauses for a few seconds then tells me to insert a floppy disk!?

It's an abit mobo btw and an old floppy drive to took from my old dell computer.

Everything is plugged in?, power AND data cable?. What kinda floppy have you got it as in the BIOS cause there are diffrent types of floppys(720Kb 1.4Mb etc..). It works fine in your old dell?.
