    Install adaware,
http://www.computeractive.co.uk/download/1136025 and read this page http://www.vnunet.com/Features/1144979

Hope this helps. Wrong forum, btw.

Get Spybot Search and Destroy. Why did you post this to programming?

Don't lick the uninstall, they may make noise but who knows if they like it or not.

Try going into safe mode first.. always a good bet for troublesome uninstalls.
(I also do it for periodic scandisks and defrags..)

you'll probably have to get rid of it via the registry, although the actual dialler (as in the exe file) is somewhere on your HD.
go to task manager and see what tasks are running, it'll probably be called XXX dialler or something.
Whatever the name of it is, search your hard drive for the same file and delete it (or the folder it's contained in)

If tyou can't find it and you want to prevent it from starting then you'll need to do that through the registry (unless it's in your 'startup' folder in your start menu)
go to start, run, type regedit and hit OK
    then go to
HKEY_Local_Machine, software, microsoft, windows, current version, run.
In there is all the progs that start automatically when windows starts.
double-lick (!) on the dialler and put a '.' (as in a full-stop) at the start of the line.
Or you can just delete it, whatever.

You can disable its startup via MSCONFIG (Start->Run and then type 'msconfig'). If you know the name of the process, go to the Startup tab, and uncheck the box beside it.

Bear in mind folks that this kind of thing can be caused by letting other people use your computer. Tsk...

Actually if it is the porn dialer I Think it is (had to remove one from a mothers friends laptop), then you could of caught it by viewing a porn website.

It hooks into your modem setup and takes it over. Basically when you log on, it will log you off and dial a long distance number and connect you that way. MSConfig will not get rid of it.

Not a problem if you aren't using a phone modem. But it also comes with some added features that allows your machine to be used as an open SMTP relay (to spam), and also people to view whats on your machine and add/remove stuff.

Get Ad-Aware and install and run it (make sure you update the definations though).

    a mothers friends laptop

suppose it's a little more effort than just: a "friends" laptop

Uh, why did you move it to PI? Surely the windows forum should be the place for this thread...

It's always the same, fixed 5 computers in the past 2-3 months for people I don't even know. Four of them were the Blaster worm :/

In me experience Spybot is much better then Adaware, though there is a down side I've also found that although Spybot will remove alot more then adaware there's also more of a chance that it'll feck over windows :D

Oh well, only one way to stop all this spyware/adware, stop using IE and stop downloading CRAP!

.........and of course you could stop using windowz.
