AIB have a new facility where you can register your pre-pay mobile number on 24 Hour-Online and then top-up by text-message. The text messages are free so handy if you are completely stuck with zero credit... can even top up someone else's mobile...

More details on Text Top-Up here... and make sure to read the FAQ about the service...

Yeah they launched that service about a month ago. Seems like a very useful service.

    yup its dead handy
    I used to use the 1890 24 24 24 to top up
but you'd need at least 2.50 credit to call the number as its 24cent per min off peak and it takes AT LEAST 6 mins to get through everything..

Any word on Bank Of Ireland doing something similar?!

Vodafone have had a text top-up sevice for a long time! You have to register your Laser/Credit card with them in advance and then you can top up by a free text message. There can be some problems with delays resulting from your card being verified with your bank.

i think there are some differences / advantages in the Bank's service - mainly that there is no 'delay periods' waiting around for authentication... also you can top up someone else's mobile on the fly
