You are half Right. Gypsies came to Ireland in the 1600's or there about. Today’s' incarnation of the "gypsies" are a mangled breed of irish/spanish/english/themselves

[on this point I’m not joking, it’s a honour for one of the members of the travelling community to marry their cousin/brother/sister]

As for the racism of this thread...well I’ve a problem with people's definition of racism anyway. in my view racism goes both ways both positive and negative. yet people concentrate on the negative.

Speaking from personal experience I’ve yet to meet an honest hardworking "traveller" of my own age.

it seems that the old breed of tin smiths/knackers have died out. They were the ones who actually worked. With them I have no problem.

Today I believe the definition of knacker refers to groups of undesirable youths. pretty much in the same vein as blackguard! it does not specifically refer to a member of the travelling community.

wouldn't it be rasict against the majority to blindly ignore those in the minority who (and lets be honest) are completely useless and only destory places where they "travel" to and break laws

Travelers are not a respectable part of our society and just because political correctness says so doesn't mean they are

what gets me is there has been 2 moderators mosting replies here. and i am yet to see a "thread closed" anywhere....

Racism is a major problem facing our society.
pointing out racism on travellers is the same as the racism on english,scottish,welsh or any foreign people in this country.

i wonder when an admin will notice this thread and step in with the powers that have been entrusted with them by the leading mods...
