This mightn't be entirely clear to someone that hasn't followed nanny/authoritarian US initiatives like the TSA, TIA, CAPPS and such and such. TSA is the "Transport Security Administration" that was created shortly after the incidents on September the 11th and came out with a whole raft of "security measures" that were obviously conceived by politicians and civil servants, and not someone appropriate. You know, like security experts?

Ok, so the guy had a few drinks, so what? Well, first of all he was driving while under the influence; secondly, he was on duty; thirdly, he was the chief; and fourthly, all this happened during a "heightened alert". And just to add a little icing on the cake, the airport he was supposed to be protecting was the airport the now famous BA 223 was ordered to fly to, with an escort fo fighter jets.

So not only are Americans allowing themselves to be nannied by morons, apparently drunks are a-ok too.

The chief of the Transportation Security Administration at Dulles International Airport was placed on administrative leave yesterday after being charged with drunken driving while he was on duty for a New Year's Eve Code Orange alert, officials said.

Acting federal security director Charles Brady was pulled over about 1 a.m. by a Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority police officer who saw him driving erratically on Route 28 near Dulles, airport spokeswoman Tara Hamilton said.

Brady, 49, was taken to the Fairfax County jail, where he was booked at 3 a.m. He was released at 1 p.m. yesterday after being charged with driving while intoxicated, said spokesman Lt. Tyler Corey, who described Brady as "extremely cooperative" during his stay.

have you ever heard of delegated authority or do you think only Brady could make the "important decisions?"

However, I am disappointed on the charges levied on Brady; however, let the internal processes proceed (those are the inspector general office of the Treasury Dept) along with a little known agency called "Merit Systems Protection Board."
