Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just wondering who people think are the best football writers/jornos and the worst.

I would nominate Simon Kuper who has written two fantastic books - football against the enemy and Ajax the dutch war. He also wrote some excellent columns for the guardian and sadly now defunct website onefootball. Sadly he has been lost to the darkside and now writes for the financial times. Also a honourable mention to Sid Lowe of the guardian who does the reports on La Liga - really well written and very amusing.

The worst in my opinion would have to be Ian Ridley of the observer. I hate his pontificating and his ceaseless promotion of Tony Adams. Also a mention to Harry Harris of the mirror - less said the better.

Agreed on harry harris and imo the mirror tends to be following an agenda lately not letting the facts get in the way of a good story.

    I like Cathal Dervan articles , ;)

John King for his books "Football Factory" and "England Away." He gave a great insight into football hooliganism. And Harry Harris, one word, Tool.

Kevin McCarra in the Guardian is very good. Very concise and even handed.

Of course, I can't for the life of me fathom the pointless pontification of Tom "The atmosphere in the dressing room was..." Humphries.

Most of the stuff you see in the irish Times attributed to the Guardian Service is McCarra.
