I am contemplating configuring my laptop & mobile together to enable me to access the internet and email from my vehicle.

    Details as follows:

    operator 02
What type of account you have: Pre-Pay (Billed-Monthly)
Make / model of handset you are using Nokia 6301i

If relevant are you using a PC / Mac, what make / model / OS Version

Dell Inspiron 5150 running XP Pro

I need to purchase a bluetooth card.

If anyone uses a similar set up i would be grateful if you could share any tips, pointers, etc

for email and web any Bluetoorh card should work as long as it supports the DUN Profile (Dial-Up Networing Bluetooth profile) bit this should be most of them

i'd suggest using one that provides a Bluetooth Implementation by Widcomm (it's not fully built into XP as yet), such as the TDK PC Card (by one of the best Bluetooth equipment vendors) - Belkin PC Card also use the Widcomm implementation (although a slightly older version)

with O2 to get GPRS internet access you should also check the O2 GPRS Billing to select an appropriate package for your projected usage. then call 1740 from you handset and ask to be set up for GPRS internet access with the package you require (they can also answer questions about the sevice)

if you are using at least 6310i software version V 5.50 - you check this on the phone from the main screen by typing *#0000# - this should also allow you to use the PC Suite with a Bluetooth adapter as outlined in this thread, previously it would only work with Nokia's own adapter (which has since be transferred to the ownership of Socket Communications)
