video 8 to digital 8

    Advice would be welcome
    I have a load of home movie Video 8 tapes made on a Sony camcorder
    which has died. I want to transfer these tapes to DVD.

    I now have a Digital 8 camcorder , However I cannot seem to play any of the old Video 8 on the Digital 8 camcorder its like all the analogue tapes are blank but I know this is not the case


    Does a Digital 8 player play analogue Video 8 tapes ?,the camcorder is a Sony DCR-TRV140e is there some setting required to play analogue? the old video 8 tapes fit the Digital 8 and i have recorded onto them,

    Any one advise?
