Excellent point Muso. As a matter of interest are we finding a fall off in Q3 players as the laggards realise it is in fact **** or are ppl persevering because its Quake. In other words is the Q3 scene sustainable. Are more ppl playing UT and HL TFC ?

I haven't played Q3 in about 2 weeks. I've discovered a little mod called Counter-Strike for Half-Life.
So much more fun. I think I'm bored of just running around aimlessly shooting the same old weapons, only to get pingfragged. Has Q3 advanced the genre any further? I think not. Its the same game with prettier graphics.

Q3 clan scene in the UK is going to the dogs; no-shows all over the shop due to players all playing CounterStrike, UT or Planetarion. The initial burst of enthusiasm in the game is dying fast.

Interestingly, the UT scene, which started out very poorly, is improving slowly - partially due to the influx of Q3 players, it has to be said.

Yes, it has to be said that Counter-Strike kicks ass.
I stopped playing Quake(CA) a few months ago in favour of Halflife (Deathmatch & TFC), then CS came along and now halflife is all I play.
I sometimes play the odd game of Quake2 when I need my fix of fast-paced fragging.

I played CounterStrike months and months and months ago... ages ago. It had potential but was just another boring ****ing 'wait around, collect coins, build a house, role-playing game'. Has it progressed since then?

UT is just too 'pokey' to be enjoyable. It is not fun.
