I have to take part in an Irish debate on Thursday (oh God, the humanity). Anywho, our team is against the motion ''Irelands democratic system is operating well''
We've had a few ideas but nothing that'll hit the opposition hard!
    Any suggestions?

Are you in the ESB schools?
If you could tell me what your position is I could help you out a lot more, it's hard to say until you know what compo and position you are.

Bheuil, síos anseo i gCorcaigh, tá an Socialist Party ar na sráide ag iarraidh ar dhaoine stad a chuir leis an BNP (British Nationalist Party) teacht go Chorcaigh. Tá sé sin go daonlathach, nách bfhuil?

cant help you with the irish part but you could prob point out how most people dont like the spike, the way poorer people pay comparitively less tax than the wealthy. If i think of more i'll post more

jesus christ don't talk about the tax system, they would easily destroy you if you said that.

Talk about tribunals, how the people who commit crimes can only be financially fined, not put in jail.

Talk about sex offense, and how the catholic church were allowed pay a lump sum in compensation because of their position in the irish state, and were able to essentially pay off to not be put to trial.

Talk about the poor people, how there are 8000 homeless people, and over 50000 people on the waiting list for housing, and how nothing is being done.

Tribunal, really hits the nail on the head,

compare and contrast other successful forms of leadership/organisation where the have succeded in areas we have failed...

compare Irelands democratic system to other democratic systems..but you may be lynched on discussing leaderships based on regents or military unless those systems are extremely watertight

    no your stupid,,,,,

its the worst thimng you can do, you bcan say you dont belive what they are saying but dont call them liars

You saying "I don't believe what they are saying" is calling them a liar.
Stop pussy footing around the issue.

If people make up facts in debates, and you are able to call them on it, call them on it.
If you can call them on it while making it a joke even better.
