Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Coventry player/manager Gary McAllister has decided to quit the club and indeed footie to look after his wife
who has been very ill for a while now.
Gary McAllister has resigned as player-manager of Coventry City so that he can devote time to his family.

McAllister recently stepped down on a temporary basis in order to be with his wife Denise while she undergoes treatment for an illness.

But he has now left permanently with Eric Black expected to continue to take charge of first-team affairs.

McAllister said he had come to the decision "after much consideration and discussion with my family".

He added: "I have reached the decision that it would be better to sever all ties with Coventry City at this time so the club can clearly focus on the future.

"I would like to express my gratitude to the club, the players, the staff and all the fans for their support and wish Coventry City every success in the future."

McAllister took over at Highfield Road in April 2002 and the club will make an annoucement about a permanent successor in the near future.

Sky Blues chairman Mike McGinnity said: "I'm extremely sad that Gary has decided to leave.

"I and the rest of the board completely support his decision and would like to thank him for his hard work here, including identifying players which were not in his plans and helping lower the wage bill, which has helped the club ensure future stability.

"Gary is an extremely hard-working and honest individual, who will be sorely missed by everyone at Coventry City.

"We wish him and his family the very best of luck for the future."

    Mike.

He's Mac he's Mac he's Gary Gary Mac.. He has got no hair but we dont care he's Gary Gary Mac!

Shame to see him have to call it a day under such sad circumstances but hopefully things will go well for him. The guy was fantastic. His brief spell at Liverpool he showed what a good player he was and had it not been for him imho there wouldnt have been as much won in those seasons.

Back when he was playing for the pool his wife Denise was battling to overcome breast cancer. As chemotherapy carried a risk to her unborn child, she refused the treatment, and waited two weeks until it was safe to induce the birth and baby Oliver was born safe and well.

Denise McAllister, 37, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000. After a mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiotherapy she fought her way back to health. However, she is now understood to have suffered a relapse.

This is very bad news and my prayers are with Gary, Denise and their family.

Terrific footballer, and a dead ball specialist.

Hope to see him return sometime
