Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Magical Yo-Yo Wireless Router

I've got a Netgear WGR614 that has taken to crapping out on me several times. It's only now beginning to piss me off. Every so often the signal drops (yet the connection doesnt drop) and a few seconds later picks up to 100% again. The router is no more than 15ft away from me in another room with only one thin wall between us.

Sometimes the connection drops completely, my wireless nic (WG511) rescans for signals and picks the network up but wont connect. It'll only reconnect if I go in to the other room, pull out the power cord and stick it back in.

I'm running the latest firmware on the router, my laptop is XP pro and thats about it.

    Any ideas welcomed.

Sounds like interference from something. Microwaves / baby montiors / radio telephone numbers could all be a cause?

I thought that but I dont see what could be causing it. There is a microwave in the house but it's downstairs and even if I use my laptop in the kitchen I get a decent signal. There arent any baby monitors in the house (not for another few years anyway ;)) and no cordless phones either. The router is sitting in a room with one other pc and a printer (oh and a bed).

At a stretch of the imagination I suppose it could be something from outside - I think a guy down the road a bit has a wifi antenna up on his roof. Either that or it's for a CB radio. I dunno, bit of a noodle scratcher.

Try setting your wi-fi card to the AP channel and not have it scanning. That can help when it is dropping out.
