Forgive my lack of knowledge on the subject of DVD players....

My comps internal DVD/CD-RW combo has trouble playing certain DVDs. It plays some region-free and region 2 DVDs fine, but other region 2 DVDs, it's plays some of the DVD (usually the start with the warning and the film producer's logo), and then the playback goes all over the shop. Kind of like a scrambled satellite channel.

I'm guessing that some DVDs are locked out from being played in computer players? If so, is there any software out there to overcome this?

try anydvd (google it) it removes all the things that can stop your dvd's playing (macrovision etc.) and might sort your problem.
