    Ure thinking of something else.

    Fermets last theorm (x^3 + y^3 = z^3 where x,y,z are whole integers larger than 2), has already been proven.

    It was proved, but in a very strange round about way using very wierd maths - probable not the "intersting" proof that Fermat mentioned.

    Oh yeah, the guy who actually proved Fermats Last Theorem used Intergratin and differentiation methods that hadnt been discovered at the time of his death.

    The general thinking in mathematics is that Fermat was a chancer and had no solution (or hadnt thought it through properly).
    The theorem is undoubtedly true but it too over 400 pages to prove, hardly the beautiful solution Fermat noted in his margins the night before he popped his clogs.
