    hi
i always have the app wupdater.exe (windows updater) running when i look at processes after pressing ctrl/alt/del, and every 2nd or 3rd time i go to shut down windows(xp pro) i have to wait till wupdater shuts down, this is annyoing as i dont usually update from microsoft so i dont need it open all the time!
how to i close this..i found it in C:\Program Files\Common Files\updater, so should i just delete the files in here?
if i do so, will it cause any probs if i go to make windows updates in the future?

    cheers

Go to Control Panel -> System-> Automatic Updates and turn off the automatic updates. That should do it.

    sounds iffy.
go to run and type in msconfig.exe

click on the startupo tab and remove the tick next to wupdaters entry

sounds like you've got some adware on your computer...
try installing spybot or adaware (or indeed, both)
then update them & scan your computer for adware.
