This little box has made an appearence at GalwayLAN 6 and 7, and she's set to return at 8.
    Blackle is the following:
    Pentium200 @ 225Mhz (Thanks Kix :))
    96(?)Megs EDO ram @ 75Mhz (60ns afaik)
    3Com 3c595 Vortex 10/100baseTx adapter
    3c900 Boomerang 10Mbps Combo adapter
    Running Debian.
Also has an original retail Creative SoubdBlaster16 ISA card (No Wavetable chip though) with an IDE/ATAPI CDROM interface.
Might be handy for hooking up a set of speakers and piping network auraliser through it ;)
    blackle:~# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
    /dev/hdc3 28G 7.4G 19G 28% /
    /dev/hda1 1023M 34M 937M 4% /boot

I'll be running an IRCd and TeamSpeak server off her at least for GL8, and hopefully a web-page with some stuff on it in the near future.

Is there anything else ye can think of that would be suitable?

Myself and Paddy have tried getting the Cube-Engine dedicated server running (it's supposedly really light-weight) but it's been giving us grief about libraries, which are installed, not being installed.
It really isn't up to much aside from light comms apps and the odd lightweight game server, but any suggestions are welcomed.

    John

    The pool comes later :)

Don't suppose you know what to edit in /etc/ircd/ircd.conf so that people outside the machine can log in (On the LAN, not Internet)?

    Running Debian.

Link, and it better have full linux support.
    I'll consider it :)

Quality doesn't matter over a LAN, raise the bitrate/change the codec, and this is just a plaything.

Am...they seem to want "money" in exchange for the server. Or it won't run past X hours online some shit.
I'll take a closer look, but tbh, I don't like the sound of it so far.

PsyBNC is annoying, it contains too much crap. The proper BNC version with a Debian package is better. Better still is a compiled version of a *recent* version of BNC runnning as an underpriviliged user. The Debian package is at v2.6.4, whereas v2.8.4 is what I use meself.

I've ventrilo setup at home and it's free

although saying that I'm using the windows version of it. I wouldn't have thought that the linux version would have cost anything

Is 2.6.4 stable, testing or unstable?
I'll be moving up to kern2.6 and unstable soon enough, or at the very least, Sarge.

Cormac, I'll give ventrillo a go so :)

    Stable.

There appears not to be any testing or unstable packages for it. 2.6.4 is quite old, AFAIK.

Depends on whether using it at a LAN that is paid for is actually under "rolled into some other paying service" or not. If it is, you have to pay for it. Otherwise its free.
