looking for s-vhs and hi-8 equipment

see wanted ad here I reckon one of the readers of this forum might be more likely to be able to help out. I'm transferring S-VHS, VHS and 8mm tapes to DVD-R and want to maximise signal quality going into the recorder by using s-video. I've got a time-base-corrector which will help but consumer VHS players just don't cut it.
