I know I can search it out on the net, but how is easy or hard is it to put a page up on the net? It might even be considered for a "sticky"
    Thanks in advance!!! :):):)

    its fairly easy....

You have a http server, get one of those free eircom ones for starter...

you need a FTP client, so that you can send a file to the server, the file you upload will be in the http server directory which shows up when a person goes to it with their browser.

Thats basically it, very easy once u get used of it.
oh yes i can see this thread being moved to webmasters/flash :p

Where exactly?, do you have to be an Eircon costumer, I'm using IOLBB dont know what stuff they give you - I dont think they give you anything at all actually. How much space is provided by Eircon?.

    http://home.eircom.net/webspace/

You can sign up free but if you need to dial up and be a eircom Ip to log into FTP i amn't quite sure. I don't use eircoms web space tho so I amn't sure of anythign at all but it would be good for starter

Well it's easy if you know how !! lol

Well 1st you need a webpage to put up,

then once you have that you need somewhere to put it, You can pay for this or get it for free, but with free ones they might have pop ups or banners on the site, (you cant remove them)

www.netfirms.com are quite good (i think)

Once you have a place to out your site, you can either Upload your site via FTP or browser... you can get ftp programs on the net for free.

when you upload your files your 1st page has to be called index.htm or index.html....

if you need anymore help let me know,,, i upload site everyday.

I'd say your isp will have a pretty good "how to" section on their website, you'll get everything you need from there. Just make sure the main "homepage" is called "index.html" or "index.htm" etc.

Freewebs is pretty good. No banners, just a link back to their site at the end of each page. Easy to use too.

Just while everybody is on the subject, I've had a few enquiries from people wanting me to do up websites for them..... Does anybody have a link to a decent guide on how to do it?

Is there a huge advantage to using Dreramweaver? It seems using html is fairly straightforward.

    Cheers!

    Regarding search engines:

Here's a link on how to submit a site to Yahoo, I'm sure other directories have similar.
    http://docs.yahoo.com/info/suggest/

Some of the sites allow you to pay a little extra to get your site listed first, or in a boxed table separate from the other lists. I'm not sure the exact costs for this, but they'll be on each site.

Here's a somewhat free site which automatically submits your site to a number of engines (it allows 10 search engines for free, after that you have to pay):
    http://www.submit-it.com

Here are some free sites which claim to do the same
    http://www.addme.com
