Are you sure about the retractable roof bit? Translucent yes. But the four stands all look to be at different levels. Wouldn't it be difficult to implement a retractable roof in that case?

Bloody great news BTW. The prospect of hiking out to Abbotstown for rugby matches in the midst of all the Blanchardstown shopping centre traffic was too hellish to contemplate.

Speaking as a local resident (well kinda, about a quarter of a mile from the ground) I'm overjoyed that we're not going to have some bloody awful apartment block thrown up there.

Way to go, the Progos!! I might even vote for Michael Mc Dowell now.

    (Only kidding)

The roof is definitely not retractable . . . It will be translucent so as to encourage grass growth and it will cover all stands but the ground will remain open air. . .. its a shame really . . From watching the games played under the roof at Cardiff and at the World cup in Australia I think it generally makes for better rugby !
