Computer Architecture, anything specific he wants to do the project on?

He could talk about the current transition from 32-bit CPU's to 64-bit CPU's or the development of SATA over IDE. Hard Drives on how their capacity and speeds have risen dramatically over the last 2 years. Ya could write a novel on Graphics Cards. from AGP 1.0 to AGP 3.0. He could compare memory types, DDR-RAM, SD-RAM and RD-RAM(Rambus). Power and Cooling Requirements Today compared to 4 years ago.

Dont have any good web links at the moment, ill have a look around. Put some of those in to google and ya should get loads.

Pretty much the overview of where the tech is headed (in a realistic tangable sense)

    Pretty much

    .input devices
    .output devices
    .removable media
.Computer types (new tech being intergrated into systems....)
    .New/improved forms of data communication
.New developments in types of networks (wan, lan etc)
.New developments in ram chips/motherboards/graphic chips

I wrote most of this out purely so we'd have a course of action ot take but yes thats the general idea of what hes trying to research
    Thanks once again

Two great books come to mind, Both written by Patterson/Hennessy.
Computer organization & Design, The Hardware/Software Interface 10/10
Computer Architecture, A quantitive Approach. 9/10
If you are serious about learning computer architecture (especially RISC architecture)
Sell your granny and buy these books.
