It all depends on the laptop and pc. You may just be able to go with 100mb/s LAN though. As i say depends on what connectors you have on both.

You can also use IR transfer 4Mb or 112kb - if your desktop had IR that is.

PCMCIA IDE adaptor probably.

Short of a 30GB Database or a shedload of music and Videos, what do you need to transfer?

As others have said, your best bet is a 100Mbit crossover connection or 54Mbit Wireless point to point connection.

Agree with the ppl above, only good option is to do it over the network (crossover cable if you don't have a hub/switch). If both the laptop and the desktop have 100Mbit cards you should get over 10Megs a sec.

you can pick up those cards for under 30euro nowadays, and they always come in usefull.
