ftp server

    im on eircom dsl and want to host a ftp server
    so i run the server and forward the port
    the weird thing is one person i know can connect and download no problem but about 3 other people iv got to check it cant
    i cant figure it out :confused:

    I didn't think you were allowed to host ftp servers on eircom BB ;)

    Post the address and I'll have a look and see what I can tell you.
    Also post a direct link to a file if you can aswell (it dont matter what)

    true but ill take the chance that they wont do anything about it :)
    and no im not posting the connect details dont want everyone hammering my upload its only 128k ;/
    i was just hoping someone could give me some advice on what i could be doing wrong

    Ok then with the people who cant connect, post the full details that they are getting from their ftp software, I should be able tell you then where the problem is

    is the ftp set up for more than one user? use serv-u if you're not already, that's what i use and i've never had a problem

    yes im using serv-u
    its setup for only 1 user
    they can all connect but only 1 out of the 4 ppl can download

    Wont work, unless you can open the ports on your Caymen

    Whats your ip then?, will have a look, just open anon to a blank folder or something, or just check your access logs

    how did you open the port?

    ok i found the passive mode option, so i enter my ip as the ip to use? do i have to keep changing that as my ip changes?

    Turn off passive ftp logins and try that. Try it first one the ftp client and if that doesnt work try turning it off on the server
