Unfortunately that is slightly more informative than an "out of memory" message.

    OS ? / User rights ?
Email server Internet / SMTP / Exchanger ?

    Permissions - Network / Registry ?

No changes - have you rebooted or changed any other settings - Outlook shares dll's and other crap with other programs eg: Exchange server Admin program will trash a lot of outlook system files.

Can you ping the mail server in a DOS prompt eg: ping mail1.eircom.net - 'cos it could be something their end.

Which folder are you in on the inbox (more for exchange)

    ok

OS Win XP Pro/ Admin rights
Email server Internet / SMTP / Exchanger

i don't know which it is but it's not email server internet.

i've rebooted and havn't changed any settings at all.

i don't have or know anything about exchange server admin program.

Pinging mail.gamebashers.net [81.3.64.10] with 32 bytes of data:

    Request timed out.
    Request timed out.
    Request timed out.

    Ping statistics for 81.3.64.10:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),

i've seemed to fix it now.

/me wonders the greatness of reinstalls :D

also a clan member told me that the reason the server is timing out is because it's behind a firewall.

if that makes sense i have a ****ing iota tbh.

If you get pings back it proves that you can see the server.

not sure if this will work - if it does you should see the mail server.
    telnet 81.3.64.10 25
