What are peoples thinking on this now that the Local and European Elections are on the horizon (well June)?

For the General Election in 2002 there was a parallel forum, but I suspect a sub forum(s) would be better to keep the navigation easy.

One problem is dealing with about 150 constituencies and making things relevant to people (to a degree the regional boards can deal with local issues).

Any good site you know of Victor which details the seats on the Councils in Dublin and the division of the European vote?

To be honest I'd rather see the Political Satire board being renamed to Elections, were we to go down that route. Otherwise, I'm not actually convinced that the navigation of election specific threads would be difficult enough to merit the creation of such a forum. Election coverage and general politics banter is also so similar that splitting the two into two different fora might lead to disjointed conversations, with people referencing different threads in the two fora as opposed to keeping the discussion within one thread (like that has ever happened ).

I'm not saying it's a bad idea, and it's worth some consideration, but I don't see a blinding need for it at the moment. If there should be a deluge of posts about regional electoral candidates, or if such a situation is forseeable, then perhaps a different forum is warranted, but for the moment I just see it as an unnecessary subdivision.

Sure at the very least, there'll be no real deluge until the political issues start coming out and even then, keeping it in the main forum with a thread for good links stickied would probably be best, in my opinion.
