Those low-spokecount wheels just about pass, but the fat ass grey Ultegra crankset is a step too far.

Campag Athena alloy would work much better, like on this Opus (which would probably work better with the crabon option, but whose frame might appeal nonetheless to red and black fans).

Very impressive. Does anyone know what the techno track on that video is? Is it on iTunes?

    ;)

Cheers, must admit my knowledge of bikes and their parts is on the minimal side. Yes I do like Red (and racing green) or bright colours. I like the idea of a super strong light steel frame. Was reading about reynolds and their bikes in 953 in Penns book 'its all about the bike'. Noticed that special edition Schwinn when I was googling 953, i guess the red caught my eye.

Quite like this old Mercian from 1977

Do you know, you are dead right, looking at that Schwinn again, the crankset is awful !

It's the King of Mercia, Reynolds 725. Can't wait to do it up now. I ordered it back in Feb and got it in August. I had to send the forks back again though due to damage in transit, so took another 6 weeks. Can't wait to get going now just need to decide on Athena, Centaur, 105 or Ultegra now.

    Athena - 11sp, black shifters
    Centaur - 10sp, silver shifters

    Tricky.

Athena 2011 have silver shifters. BUT Powershift instead of Ultrashift, which means it can shift multiple gears upwards but only one at a time downwards.
    Infuriating.

My shifting technique is impervious to such nuances. Just poke at the damn thing until you get the right gear.

I worked for a pnuematics company we made a chair testing machince almost exactly like that, the test was a 100kg load sitting and rocking for A 1000 hours

Something different (apologies if this is a re-post).

    woodbike2.png

"Recommended configuration" as pictured starts at €12,900

Nice craftsmanship though. See Waldmeister Bike

Eh,.... what is one supposed to do with it?

  • Registered Users Posts: 31,067 ✭✭✭✭Lumen

That is quite possibly the nastiest, ugliest, most misconceived attempt at a bike I have ever set eyes upon.

May the vengeance of the Gods rain down on its creators and all who buy it.

I wouldn't leave that out in the rain! It would have to get a yearly french lacquer or polish as well as the servicing!

Imagine slipping off the saddle onto that crossbar........splinters!!!
