That lock would probably be less effective than simply leaving a note saying "please don't steal my bike :)" though.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,702 ✭✭✭Home:Ballyhoura

Ya i was thinking of getting a decent lock alright but it would probably cost more than half what the bike cost which I thought was a bit mad ha!! Is there any old boardsie favourite or one that is widely recommended??

    stable??????
    complete???????????

I thought there were spoken/unspoken rules about such things?
If one is a man, is the building not always referred to as a "shed" ????
Can one's collection ever be "complete"?
If one reaches a space limit does one not just invest in a bigger shed????

There's a difference between what is said in a public forum, and what happens in the real world - sometning is bound to "crop-up" which will require an immediate and expensive bike replacement (a flat tyre is a good enough excuse for me;))

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators, Regional South East Moderators Posts: 11,391 Mod ✭✭✭✭Captain Havoc

Yeah, look what happened me, one axel broke on a €400 mountain bike and I end up spending €1,500 replacing it with two bikes :)

Merlin Works CR, rides just lovely:D
It was money well spent, saves me a fortune on chiropractors fees.
None of the usual vibration induced fatigue and soreness, after riding this for 5+ hours. I have well-worn Dura-ace 9speed on it at the moment, I guess this could do with an upgrade for the spring and summer...
It came with a Real Design carbon fork, that I refuse to ride because of its high speed handling issues. The Trek/Lemond air-rail fork is a little heavy, but totally secure at any speed.

was thinking about it but I dont need any more clutter, it would only be a novelty item and Ive to order a good bit of bike parts this week so budget is tight. would have been a nice thing to have though
