I did something similar to a late 80s Peugeot 653.
There are a few photos of it in the above link.
I used the same group set as you. I love mine, but yours is prettier.

Sweet. Lovely job in 653 tubing. Was that the one you upgraded to Athena ?

Pleased with veloce tbh. Overall it turned out heavier than expected, feels about 9 kg or just under.

I bought the bike here on Boards a couple of years ago. I ditched everything except frame. I was of two minds, whether to go with modern or period group set. When framebuilder recommended a carbon fork, I decided to go modern.
I'm delighted I did. The forks make a big difference in weight and ride.
I went with Veloce because of cost and I wanted a "silver" look, which I thought suited the bike.

They're Compass Bon Jon most likely, so 38mm. Gravel stuff, or Fat Road if you prefer.

For ages now I've been bangin' on to anyone who'll listen about the Wiggins range of bikes in Halfords, and an Easter discount finally gave me the chance to put my money where my mouth was.
They're feckin gorgeous! :D No more excuses outta them now. Up the Alpe d'Huez with them this summer or there'll be no dinner on the table! :D

Saw this in Mary Street. Expected its owner to come out with diamond clips on the soles of his/her shoes, but though I waited a while no glittering rider appeared.

Looks like a SRAM automatix hub. I have one on my commuter. Two speed automatic shift with back pedal brake.

I was thinking it must be that I have a similar old 3 speed hub on an vintage frame the stripe on it and the fact he's bothered to lock the most difficult wheel to remove made me think power tap.

To be fair the frame although gaudy is actually quite well finished and the bars come basket are a feat of engineering, they remind me of something Laura Kampf would make. For those that don't know her and enjoy ad hoc engineering you should check out her youtube channel.

Cheap they are not http://www.martonecycling.eu/product-EU-5-35-Mens_Grand Correct Idleater 2 speed Sram automatix hub

    Project retro-build complete (almost).
This is the bike equivalent of the children's hospital. It took 3 times as long as expected, and went way over budget.

That is stunning; just a pity Campy's overbearing branding detracts from it slightly.

    Very very nice outfox

    Just two comments
    - the wheels are stunning but would suit my modern bike better (I'll swap you a set of hand built record ones to match your skewers :-)
    - I'd go with a quill stem as the front end would look a little tidier

stunning build but i also think the stem looks a little bulky and out of place. i did a similar build and used the stem pictured below. It gives the appearance of a quill type stem and really fitted in with the overall bike build.

I was only Plagiarizing all credit to Outfox. :) Beautiful build btw and I like the new old combo the skin wall tyres fit in perfectly aswell.

    Thanks guys.
Yeah, the stem is probably a bit bulky for the frame. I might check out Topcat's option.
