Got my new wheels on. Zipp 404 tubs ex-Columbia HTC. Have not been out on them yet, don't expect to for a few months yet. Racing only.

Ya, me too but if its comfortable then thats all that matters! However, is the bartape supposed to be that colour? And will you leave the Highroad decals on the Zipps or take them off and either leave them bare or get the original logos? It could be a point of conversation if you left them on though, I'm not saying they look bad but I prefer the look of the official Zipp logo like these! ;)

    This isn't Images of Comfort.

I'm not too motivated to change the decals, I agree the Zipp ones look better but I'm not spending 30 quid on new ones! Also I do like the conceit that I could have Cavendish's wheels... incidentally Kim Kirchen's bike was one of the ones being sold in there when I was picking them up. It had weights glued under the frame to get it up to 6.8kg. Maybe leaving them the way it is will help my sprinting :)

The saddle is very comfortable, I sometimes try something more modern but end up going back to Brooks if I am doing any distance. I think it looks a at least a bit more at home on the titanium frame than it used to on the carbon one. A more modern saddle is fine for racing though.

The bartape was an attempt to match the saddle but it is too light; I was going to leave it only temporarily before going back to black but it ended up being quite easy to clean. I might try shellacing it, that is meant to get it to a similar colour to a honey Brooks saddle.

Nice to see you have a tricolour-effect front door and surround

Yes, bought it before the sale but at the old price of £699; it has now gone up to £849, so with 20% off £679... not too much of a difference.

When it thaws I'll cycle it home, riding another bike. I only need Brooks saddles for long distances, won't be necessary on this one.

Hey man, what size is that Planet X you got there (I'm guessing a medium is it?) and what height are you? I love it (not thinking of getting one but a friend is)! Also, how is the white paintwork holding up for you? I got my Stealth in the same pearl white colour about a month ago and while it hasn't had many outings outside the house (many many hours on the turbo recently though). It is a really lovely finish but I must admit that cleaning it will probably prove to be a problem, have you found it a pain in the ass keeping it respectable looking?

Yeeh, I've a set of 303s from the same source, but they were not carrying High Road decals, so I may go out and 'invest' in a set of Zipp decals!

Pics to be posted soon enough!
PS, also can't get out at the moment with the ice and frost the last few weeks...

Looks very nice Golfanatic. Is that a £12 105 front brake caliper from CRC I see :) I ordered one myself so I can stick it on the Planet X for road use.

I think so too! Ye haven't tried it out yet to see what it is like, either of you? If its any good I will be upgrading my unbranded ones on my Trek winter trainer which are absolutely shocking. I know I will probably have to live with mismatched brakes colour wise (black front, silver back) as that is all CRC have in stock but I'd say it will be worth it at this price! Cannot justify having to pay twice as much for the 5600 version to get matching anodised aluminium finish. Please let me know what ye think of them, thanks! ;)

Might just see if anyone has anything to offer first before I make the purchase but do please still let me know how you find them incase I have no joy with that! Cheers
